If Americans Knew is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inform and educate the American public on issues of major importance that are unreported, underreported, or misreported in the American media. Our current focus is the Israel/Palestine conflict.

We are an extremely small, focused, and dedicated team, working in an area that we feel is of profound urgency and historic significance.

Interns would be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours a week and commit to the position for at least two months. The position is currently unpaid. We anticipate that it will be paid sometime in the future. We are looking for assistance in several areas:

Technical/Electronic:

• Computer and network set-up and trouble-shooting.
• Developing better formats and platforms for our work.
• Occasional website assistance

Research:

• Compiling and checking statistics, facts, etc.
• Assisting in media studies
• Creating short fact sheets and research reports.

Graphic Design:

• Improve design of current materials
• Design flyers, posters, booklets
• Experience with design programs required, QuarkXpress and Adobe PhotoShop a plus

Outreach and Community Education:

• Leafleting and flyering.
• Going to events such as lectures, movie screenings, music shows, etc., and setting up and staffing an If Americans Knew table of informational materials.
• Phoning organizations and the media.

General Office Work:

• Managing and organizing the office, including filing and answering phones.
• Maintaining our stock of informational materials.
• Preparing mail orders and taking them to the post office.

Requirements and qualifications:

• 10-hour commitment per week minimum, for at least two months
• Detail-oriented, self-starters capable of multitasking
• Computer skills a plus (and required for Technical interns)
